Pangolin - Lasershow designer 2000
Pangolin Laser Systems

Lasershow Designer 2000 is the state-of-the-art system for laser show production and presentation.

The LD2000 system is powered by the QM2000 board, you must have the board installed in order to operate the software. The QM2000 board fits into the PCI slot inside your computer or a notebook docking station can also be used; each QM2000 controls one projector head (an XY set of scanners, color control, and DMX outputs).

There are three levels of the LD2000 software available:

Pangolin QM2000 board

LD2000 Intro
Approx Price
£750 + vat

You can create frames and shows with Intro; however, the frames will be flat (2D), the Abstract Generator has only one oscillator. When making a show, you can only work with 3 tracks, and there are fewer effects such as morphing. Intro is capable of high-quality shows.
LD2000 Basic
Approx Price
£1,295 + Vat
Basic has most of the power of the LD2000 Pro version, but you can only create 2D frames, not 3D ones. You can make flat, 2D drawings but not 3D objects. The abstract generator has two oscillators instead of Pro's three. When making a show, there are 16 tracks available.
LD2000 Professional
Approx Price
£2,595 + Vat
Pro is laser show software for those doing laser shows full-time. It includes all features, including the ability to create 3D objects. When making a show, you can have up to 32 objects (tracks) simultaneously. An LD2000 Pro system can create a show for a total of 20 projectors, in the same computer or over an Ethernet network.

All three versions can playback any LD2000 show, with full effects. This means that even LD2000 Intro can play an LD2000 Pro show, with all of its advanced features. Therefore, if you just want to play back shows, your best buy is LD2000 Intro. Not only can you play back shows, but you can edit them. For example, you could replace the show's logo with your own. However, you can only use the editing features available in the particular program. This means that in Intro, you can edit just the first three tracks of a show (maximum number of tracks an Intro has access to). In Intro and Basic, you can edit a frame's X and Y coordinates, but not the Z coordinates (since these programs are 2D only and Z is for 3D). So if you need extensive editing of a show, consider Pro or Basic instead of Intro.
All three versions act as "slaves" for each other, in a multi-scanner projector. For example, you can put a Pro and Intro into a computer; the Intro will act as a slave to the Pro (including all Pro tracks and features) so you can run a two-scanner-head show.

Every LD2000 system includes Lasershow Designer 2000 and Showtime:

Lasershow Designer 2000:
A program for creating, editing and animating frames. There are many different ways to create frames and animations, you can draw with the mouse, type text using one of the 26 standard fonts, autotrace logos and clip art, project photographs, digitize paper artwork using a graphics tablet, and even rotoscope still video frames using a genlock.
The front, top and side views work just like a CAD program, to let you create 3D objects and designs, if you have the pro version. LD2000 has an extensive set of special effects, such as morphing and wrapping frames onto 3D shapes. With the Abstract Generator, you can make beautiful swirling patterns like those seen in psychedelic 1970's planetarium shows. Lasershow Video (VST2002) realtime tracing system allows you to trace video, up to 30 frames per second. Every LD2000 system includes over 70 high quality laser shows and more than 120,000 frames and animations.
Pangolin LD2000
Showtime:
A program for making a laser show. The program uses a timeline editing system, simply drag-and-drop to make a show. Pick a frame (or animation), add an effect (i.e."rotate" or "fade in"), and put them together on the timeline as an event. Move the event start and stop times to match music if required. You can make fades, wipes, zooms, moves, reveals, real-time morphing, color cycling and more. Showtime can also trigger external devices such as beams, fog, pyrotechnics and lights. With Showtime's masking feature, your foreground laser images can "mask" or hide background laser images. All you do is specify which frames are masking, and which frames will be hidden. Showtime lets you become much more productive.
For live shows, the Live! cue-playing software built into Showtime is perfect. Trigger up to 432 cues with the mouse or computer keyboard. Each cue can trigger laser graphics, beams, and external devices. Live! runs as part of Showtime but functionally can be considered a separate program.
