LD2000 A-LA-CARTE Feature Scheme
Instead of upgrading to the next Pangolin LD2000 version, why
not just add the features that you require?
| Remember - paying for the A-La-Carte
features as you need them also reduces the costs of a full
version upgrade, as the money spent counts towards the upgrade
price. |
|
- TRACKS AND SCANNERS (LD &
Showtime)
LD Intro allows editing of 3 tracks and LD Basic allows editing
of 16 tracks. If you want to purchase additional tracks for
either package, the costs is calculated per track. When you
reach 16 tracks you can assign tracks to 2 scanners, and when
you reach 32 tracks you can assign tracks to up to 20 scanners.
- ABSTRACT GENERATOR (LD
& Showtime)
LD Intro comes with one oscillator bank and LD Basic comes with
two. Both of these only allow basic waveforms such as sine,
triangle, square etc. You can purchase additional oscillator
banks individually, or have total access all waveforms and frames.
- FRAME TYPES
(LD)
LD Intro allows the creation of point-oriented frames only.
You can purchase the ability to create vector-oriented frames
and raster frames.
Vector Frames - Classic laser frames are point-oriented,
i.e. they are made up entirely of points that are placed in
the draw area. A line may have a dozen points along it, to help
smooth the scanner velocity and to add anchor and blanked features.
Now, frames can also be vector-oriented; they are made up only
of line vertices. A line has only two points in memory, the
end points. The computer automatically add velocity, anchor
and blanked points, which you control via the Projector settings/Vector
display menu item.
Raster Frames - This allows you to turn photographs (bmp,
jpg or gif files) into TV- type raster pictures for unique special
effects; you even have a choice of raster pattern types to choose
from.
- COLOURS (LD)
LD Intro allows for the use of up to 24 colours and LD Basic
allows up to 60 colours. If you have a LD Intro you can upgrade
to having 60 colours, and Pangolin also give you the "Paint
Roller" tool also.
If you have LD Basic you can upgrade to an unlimited number
of colours, including faded line endings effect.
- 3D FRAME CREATION WITH FOUR VIEWS AND
Z AXIS DATA (LD)
Neither LD Basic nor LD Intro have the capability to create
3D frames.
- SURFACE MAPPING TOOLS (LD)
LD Intro basically has no surface mapping or image warping tools.
LD Basic has 2D image warping tools, but no 3D surface mapping
tools. You can purchase the 2D image warping tools (curves,
fisheye lens, spiral, etc) and Pangolin would also include the
"Numberic resize-rotate-move" tool as well; or if
decide you want to purchase the 3D surface mapping tools (map
onto a cube, sphere, cylinder, cone, etc) this is also available
at an additional cost.
The following images shows how a basic text projection of "Laser
Visuals Ltd" can change when a simple image mapping tool
is applied, remember if you have the 3D tools your projector
will rotate them in 3D space:

- QUICK 3D FRAME CREATION TOOLS
(LD)
Neither LD Basic nor LD Intro include the Extrude, Spin or Lathe
tools to quickly create 3D geometric objects; these capabilities
can be added.
Extrude: An extrusion takes a basic 2D shape and "thicken"
it into a 3d object, i.e. like a 2D square into a 3D square
- as shown below.
Spin: Create interesting flat 2D patterns by spinng a
2D shape; i.e. a 2D rectangle spin 8 times creates a more interesting
pattern - as shown below.
Lathe: Create complex 3D lathes that will then rotate
in true 3D space.
- MICROSCRIBE 3D INPUT (LD)
Neither LD Basic nor LD Intro have the capability of supporting
the Microscribe 3D input device; upgrade to allow full usage
of this input.
- EXTRA EFFECTS (Showtime)
LD Intro does not include certain perspective and depth cue
effects, nor does it include the MIDI output or AUX output effect.
These addtional effects can be purchased together.
- OUTPUT A SHOW AS A SEQUENCE OF ILDA
FRAMES AND AVI FILE (Showtime)
LD Intro can not output a show as a series of ILDA frames or
as an AVI multimedia file.
AVI - Output to an AVI file is a great way of showing
your laser show to a potential client. An easy way to show your
customer what their corporate logo can look like rotating and
zooming up from a dot. Simply select the output from QM2000
to AVI File and adjust the video properties to your requirements,
to create a file that can easily be played back via Windows
Media Player.
ILDA - Output to an ILDA file so you can export and play
your shows back on any other ILDA compatible laser controller.
- TRANSITION SHAPES AND MORPHING
(Showtime)
LD Intro does not have the ability to accelerate, decelerate,
ping pong, etc. Nor does it have the ability to do real-time
morphing, these effects can be purchased.
- IMAGE MASKING (Showtime)
Neither LD Basic nor LD Intro include image masking. The masking
propeties allows the laserist to design shows that have masked
areas; either as blanked inside or visible only inside, as shown
in the following images:
|

|
Image
shows that the star has a mask that is "Blanked Inside";
therefore any effect will not show inside the masked area. |

shows that the star has a mask that is "Visible Inside";
therefore any effect will show only inside the mask area. |
