PC BASED LASER CONTROLLER

The Beam Sculptor 3D package comprises of the USB interface unit and software disc, which is designed to operate with a PC or laptop running Windows 98 / 2000 / ME & XP, via a USB port. The software can be used to design and create a huge array of custom images and aerial effects, such as logo's, text, animation's, complex 3D tunnel effects and true 3D effects. The software package can be divided into two main elements:

1. The Laser Draw & Animate Application

2. The Control Desk

1. THE LASER DRAW & ANIMATE APPLICATION

The Beam Sculptor PC Draw Application provides an easy way to design artwork.

BS3D Draw & Animate Screen Shot

The most prominent feature of the Draw & Animate Application is the actual area upon which images are designed and edited. Using the mouse pointer and the drawing tools, images are created by drawing on the screen as with a conventional CAD package; artwork tracing of either Bitmaps or Jpegs is possible and made easy with the zoom function, along with the ability to insert, move and delete points as and when needed. You are able to draw and then preview your artwork and animations as a standard playback or via a 3D view which enables you to see the show with beam lines, replicating a live view.

On the left hand side of the main screen (as shown above) is a panel, which contains the most used functions such as the Drawing and Editing Tools. Along the bottom of the screen is the Status Bar, which provides information such as the mouse position, total number of co-ordinates, current frame number, beam output colour and the drawing mode. The right hand panel you have two viewing options, either:
Frame Select - which contains all the frames that are held within the scene or file (as shown above), a handy display when it comes to copying or moving a frame to another position within the scene or to a new scene, or
Editor View -
which is where any frame can be viewed from front, top, side or 3D perspective. If you have a true 3D object frame open you are able to pan around the object by holding the mouse cursor down whilst over the image, as shown below:

The program supplies powerful auto-animation tools; which enable 3D rotations, spins, translations, zooming and morphing. All are very easy and straightforward to use; tools to enable these functions are found under the Animate Menu.

CONTROL DESK

The Beam Sculptor 3D Control Desk allows you to play back ILD files and has a floating Trigger Key window which enables you to select 384 laser effects, to which you can change the size and position of the effects, along with full adjustment of rotation and scan speeds etc. The Control Desk also features a Lissajous Generator, which enables the creation of fluid moving effects.
