Laser Visuals Limited do not sell second hand or "surplus supply" lasers, due to the fact that if you do not know the history of the laser it can often be very unreliable. Our advice to anybody thinking of purchasing a second hand gas laser is that you should have a thorough knowledge of its history and the state it is in when you take it on; e.g.

1. How much gas life is left in the tube?
2. Are the optics clean or damaged or scratched?
3. Has the unit ever over heated?
4. Is the cathode in good condition?
5. Is the tube gas pressure within specification?
6. Is there any tube contamination?

If any of the factors are not what they should be, it will severally affect the performation of the laser.

We prefer to supply customers reliable products that they know they can depend on, and which provides you with a full manufactures guarantee and the assurance that you have a reliable product that you know the history of. Further more, for laser systems of less than 300mW we would recommend using a diode as the extra size and weight of a gas laser outweigh the benefits of diode technology; the multicolour that a gas laser can provide will only start to look good in powers of excess of 300mW (i.e. minimum of 100mW of each colour - Red/Green/Blue).

Please also note that gas lasers do not have direct modulation, i.e you will have to purchase an additional mechanical Z Blanking galvo along with the XY scanning system.
